AN INDEFINITE LIFE?

With all honesty, I felt, or so I thought, I was living a life that needed not be heard out there by people. A life with no emulation, a bitter sweet kind of life. I oscillated between happiness and despair. Life was really difficult. My school days were challenging than ever. I could see myself at the verge of dropping out of school. I would be sent home for school fees and it would take up to a month and almost two before I could resume my academic work. My classmates would be way ahead of me and I would lag behind in my performance, catching up was hard! A stressful life had become like someone else’s normal kind of life.

I could almost foresee that with this trend in my academics, nothing good could come out of it. These challenges drew me away from my peers too. I had self-esteem issues, I mean, “who on earth would want to associate with people from poor backgrounds?” that is what I kept telling myself over and over again. I had no guts to even stand up to someone and speak out my thoughts no matter how factual they could sound. I always felt disregarded. I had no idea how much this has affected my life in general, being a teenager who could compare herself with others and all she saw was a misfit in everything.

Then came a year of greatness, 2014! I met a great team, Education Is Power, who I can speak of with my head high as life changers! Through them, I understood better what it means to elevate from grass to grace. I understood better what it meant to empower the other person, I understand better what it means to be a candle that has the power to light the world. They embraced me with love as though I were their own. Being part of the EIP family truly gave me a place to embrace as home.

Out of the many challenges I went through in form one in the year 2013, I had lagged behind a lot in my education and once EIP came through, it was advisable for me to repeat the same form as from 2014 to be in a position to catch up. EIP sponsored my education all through to my forth form and for once in my lifetime, I experienced smooth learning. As if not enough that EIP paid for my tuition fees, during the holidays all through my schooling, they mentored me through every step of the way in my academics.  EIP not only took care of my academics but also raised my esteem by having us visit new places for adventures, interacting with other students who were from various schools and backgrounds and a part of the EIP family. For me, this brought about great emotional healing and a healthy, positive state of mind. I could now be in a position to answer questions in class, to interact with my classmates, to stop distancing myself socially and abnormally, and to develop healthy relationship with my friends.

I am proud that I have made something out of my life through EIP. I am currently schooling at ICS College pursuing banking and finance all made possible by Education Is Power. I am forever grateful to this entire fraternity for making a life that seemed indefinite, definite. The impact you have had on my life will forever remind me of your generosity, and push me to also help in empowering other people’s lives too.
