Paul Kimani – Student Success Story

Education Is Power is a life changer, not only is it a life changer but also a positive life changer! I have been taught to give back to my society and I look forward to doing so to other people who might be in a position like mine or worse.

THE UNSCRIPTED!

Have you ever thought how your life would look if nobody was there to intervene or support you when you needed it most? Whenever I think about that part of my life, I honestly thank God for connecting me to this amazing organization, namely Education Is Power (EIP).

So what is unscripted about Paul? Having been raised from a humble background, my parents would not be in a position to raise tuition fees for my siblings and I. Many are the days I got sent home out of lacking school requirements that my primary school teacher demanded we ought to bring along come the following day. I would however not blame my parents for not being in a position to always provide for me like other people’s parents did. For them, putting food on the table for us, ensuring we at all times have a roof over our heads and clothing, not really the ‘fancy clothing’ to get noticed out there, but to at least cover us up and ensure we are warm in the chilly days, was what was most important for them and was highly appreciated.

Indeed, time flies! Within no time, I was already heading to secondary school but, this was only by faith. Even as bad as the situation was at my home, I never allowed it to stand in the way of doing my level best to the best of my knowledge and ability. The big question that kept lingering in my mind was, will I ever make it to high school? My intuition kept telling me, God is paving someway out but again looking at things as they were, I couldn’t just see how this would be possible.

Then came the realization and establishment of my intuitions through God’s most incredible way! An organization that is intrinsically motivated to empower people at their lowest since they believe with no benefit of doubt that there is power in empowering the other person. They kindled the tiniest sparkle they saw in me until they saw it burn to a flame of light that shone bright lighting the way all through my high school journey until I came out strong. EIP has not only helped me through paying my tuition fees but has also helped me through self-realization of who I want to be in life, and for that, I would never forget their kindness unto me. I carry them along with me, because if it were not for them, I would barely be whom I am today!

It feels quite a blessing to have your siblings look up to me now. Would I ever be looked up to if EIP had never intervened? Would I even be somebody in the society? Would I even have a story to tell? EIP is a life changer, not only is it a life changer but also a positive life changer! I have been taught to give back to my society and I look forward to doing so to other people who might be in a position as mine or worse. I have graduated high school and I am a happy young man who’s in the National Youth Service working as a volunteer. I just finished my second pillar of the service and in due time, I will be pursuing my dream course, Electrical Engineering!

Thank you EIP for making what I saw as impossibilities becoming reality. I thank God for you every single day. Long live and thrive to greater heights EIP!

EIP has continuously offered both moral and financial support. The former, through the many talks they organized for the EIP-sponsored students and the success stories the management shared with the students. This has always kept me focusing to achieve my goals. It has renewed my hope in achieving the best in life, and also enabling other disadvantaged youth the same chances I had.

With all honesty, I felt, or so I thought, I was living a life that needed not be heard out there by people. A life with no emulation, a bitter sweet kind of life. I oscillated between happiness and despair. Life was really difficult. My school days were challenging than ever.
